Small rookie help: can not use the drive

Users questions: Today I will cd into the drive, and yet nothing happens, then I turned on the "My Computer", double click the G drive (CD-ROM drive where the disc), a dialog box pops up: there is no program associated with the file to perform the operation. Please Folder Options control panel to create association. How to create relevant Alliance? Why did this happen? How we can prevent this to happen? Please help little rookie.
